Only one show, the inaugural one, on Sept. 3^rd, at 22hrs, will not be in the stage of the Cultural Joint of the Republic, but it will happen near the place it’s going to be mounted, in the auditorium of the Museum of the Republic. The musical-poetic concert Canto Latino América will bring the Chilean, Elga Pérez-Laborde, accompanied by the the theatrical director from Peru, Mario Delgado, and the poet from Brasilia Aglaia Souza. Poetic voices of Garcia Lorca, Pablo Neruda, José Marti, Violeta Parra, Chico Buarque, Fernando Pessoa and Cecilia Meireles, aming others, will be interpreted between song and declamation. People performing are Carlos Pascoal and Felipe Valoz (guitars), Kátia Almeida (violoncello and piano) and Jorge Macarrão (percussion).

Returning to the stage of the Square of Culture, at 23h30 of the same night, after the Canto Latino América show, the drummer Barata, also a DJ, cultural producer and one of the creators of Projeto Criolina, will assume the scene with new and different sounds of Brazil.

Periferia idolatrada salve, salve! – Thursday 4th, the public will enjoy an entire night of shows dedicated to hip-hop, with rappers of Brasilia and Sao Paulo. Dino Black brings from Candangolândia (DF) to the Esplanade of Ministries music from his first solo album Mais fácil amar a rosa que seus espinhos, meanwhile the Coletivo Aquilombando works with diverse manifestations of black culture, like graffiti, capoeira and poetry, and also hip-hop.

Performer, writer, web designer, singer, compositor, cultural agitator, and filmmaker, MaickNuclear, from Sao Paulo, is a very special guest from the I BIP and will share stage with the candango rappers, in the nights of rhythm, poetry and street culture, that will close with the participation of DJ A, also from Brasilia, partner of the poet GOG and known by the scratchs and very well done mixes with hip-hop, soul and grooves.

Poemusic – Friday 5^th, the presentations make a fusion between poetry and music. With the Na Boca do Sol show, the carioca poets Claude Rodrigues and Mônica Montone mix poetry, music and theatre, with humor, at 22hrs. Right after them, the candango, Sids de Oliveira, will perform with his instigating poemusical work O Grande Barco, mixing popular music rhythms with electronic elements, focused on the sensorial area of the poetic word. DJ Gabriel Gardenal (DF), closes the night with its fusion of Eastern European rhythms, Middle East and North West Indian (Punjab) with Western rap and reggaeton.

On Saturday, 6^th, from 22h, the rock-poetry of Caco Bridges, with its band Don Caco and Candangos Oníricos (SP), makes the Scene-BIP in the Square of Culture, with special participation of Nicolas Behr. Poet, actor, producer, former resident of Brasilia, Caco Bridges battles in the publishing of the poetry book O Incrível Acordo Entre o Silêncio & o Alterego to launch it after the show, in Rayuela Coffee House, also mounted on the Square of Scene-BIP.

Contemporay Scene-BIP shows - Elga Laborde, Barata, Dino Black, Aquilombando, MaickNuclear, The DJ, Claufe Rodrigues & Monica Montone, Sids de Oliveira, Don Caco and Oníricos Candangos, in the Cultural Joint of the Republic, from September 3 to 6, from 22h, with free entrance.

OI POEMA no Poemação do Café Martinica

A pá, lavra – Recital & thing and such. This is the title of the poetic and musical performance that the group OIPOEMA, from Brasília, will perform on Friday, September 5^th, in Martinica Coffee Shop, 303 North, from 20h onwards, during the I International Biennial of Poetry (I BIP). To receive OIPOEMA and other poets of the city, Martinica Coffee Shop will mount a small stage next to the centenary Copaíba tree, with sound equipment and good microphones.

OIPOEMA is formed by the poets Amneres, Bic Prado, Cris Sobral, Luis Turiba, Nicolas Behr and Paulo Djorge. In addition to writing texts, they sing cirandas, sambas and hip-hop. “Each of us has a special and unique way to make and recite poetry. We mix and send: that is the dynamic of the group. Today, there is an audience in Brasilia that already identifies our poems and we even consider some verses, classics,” says Luis Turiba, who created the group in 2003.

Over the past three months, the group has made four presentations, a true workshop of poetry, in the Poetic Boat that leaves the Paranoa Lake always in full moon nights, with special guests and a poetry lover audience.

Admission is free at Martinica Coffee Shop, but it is worth arriving early to get a good seat and watch an intriguing recital.

Although it counts on the support of the Secretariat of Culture and other agencies of the federal and district governments, the Biennial International of Poetry of Brasilia is not a chapa-branca event. We will not have a Nobel Prize super structure. We are going to need enough solidarity to mobilize everybody. We will have defects, imperfections, but we must be generous, warm. We want you to help with transport to take the national and international guests to recite their poems in some places in the city. We want them to offer solidary lodging. The BIP is ours, the party is ours. I want you to divide that responsibility with us.

The speech above, of the general coordinator of the I BIP, poet and professor Antonio Miranda, pulled out a long applause of the auditorium of poets and artists, invited this past Friday 18^th, by him and the Secretary of Culture of the DF, Silvestre Gorgulho, for a meeting of clarification on the philosophy of the event and of explanations on the program.

The meeting took place at the auditorium of the National Library of Brasilia, at 4pm and almost 70 persons assisted, between poets, plastic musicians, artists, filmmakers, business man partners of the event, ambassadors, representative diplomats and of the local government.

“I am happy to see this room full of people and that they believe in us”, Antonio Miranda said in front of the almost full audience. When finishing the descriptive projection of the programming of the I BIP, the coordinator of the event answered the questions of the auditorium, and emphasized: “We are not going to think that the Biennial is business-oriented. The most fabulous part of an event like this one is to take knowledge of the poetry that is being made in the world; it is to be able to meet poets of different continents, it is brotherhood, an unforgettable relationship”.

Miranda also said that the Biennial wants to conquer readers and form new poets. “We cannot know who he is a good poet, who is not so good, and nor is the case. If each one will be able to have five minutes of glory in the Biennial, he/she will have years of glory in the Internet, because we will reorganize the site with the register of all the events, until the end of the event”.

The meeting was opened by the Secretary of Culture with one short speech, where Antonio Miranda was praised as poet and recognized internationally as a professional. Gorgulho only said that “we have to give our best and we need to learn to make better in the biennials that will follow”.

Aunque cuente con el apoyo de la Secretaría de Cultura y de otras instituciones del gobierno federal y distrital, la Bienal Internacional de Poesía de Brasilia no es un evento chapa-blanca. No vamos a contar con una superestructura de premio Nóbel. Tendremos que hacer una campaña de solidaridad para movilizar a todo el mundo. Tenemos defectos, fallas, pero debemos ser generosos, hospitalarios. Queremos que nos ayuden con el transporte para llevar los invitados nacionales e internacionales a recitar sus poemas en varios locales de la ciudad. Aspiramos que ofrezcan hospedaje solidaría. La BIP es cosa nuestra, la fiesta es nuestra. Quiero que ustedes dividan con nosotros esa responsabilidad.

Las palabras encima, del coordinador-general de la I BIP, poeta y profesor Antonio Miranda, arrancaron largos aplausos de la platea formada por poetas y artistas, invitados el viernes, 18, por El coordinador de la BIP y por el Secretario de Cultura del DF, Silvestre Gorgulho, para una reunión de esclarecimiento sobre la filosofía del evento y de explicaciones sobre el programa.

Al encuentro que fue realizado a las 16h, en el auditorio de la Biblioteca Nacional de Brasilia comparecieron cerca de 70 personas, entre poetas, músicos, artistas plásticos, cineastas, empresarios colaboradores del evento, embajadores, representantes diplomáticos y del gobierno local.

“Estoy feliz por ver está sala llena y por saber que están confiando en nosotros”, dijo Antonio Miranda frente al auditorio casi repleto. Al terminar la proyección descriptiva de la programación de la I BIP, el coordinador del evento respondió a preguntas del auditorio, y enfatizó: “No vamos a pensar que la Bienal es un palco de negocios. Lo más fabuloso de un evento como este es tomar conocimiento de la poesía que está siendo hecha en el mundo; es poder compenetrarse con poetas de varios continentes. Es una cofradía, una relación inolvidable”.

Miranda también dijo que la Bienal quiere conquistar lectores y formar nuevos poetas. “No tenemos cómo saber quién es buen poeta, quién no lo es, y ni viene al caso. Si cada uno podrá tener cinco minutos de gloria en la Bienal, tendrá años de gloria en la Internet, porque vamos a reestructurar el sitio con el registro de todos lo sucedido, al final del evento”.

La reunión fue abierta por el secretario de Cultura con un brevísimo discurso, en que elogió a Antonio Miranda como poeta y profesional reconocido internacionalmente. Gorgulho dijo que “tenemos que hacer lo mejor y aprender para continuar haciendo lo mejor en las próximas bienales”.

El objetivo del concurso es estimular y divulgar los talentos literarios de los alumnos superdotados atendidos en los Naah/S implantados en todo el País. Los 27 finalistas tendrán sus poemas reunidos en una Antología bilingüe (portugués y español), patrocinada por la Embajada de España, y que será lanzada durante la 27ª Feria del Libro de Brasilia y distribuida en las escuelas brasileñas y españolas.

El Premio Talento Literario alcanzó todas las Directoras Regionales de Enseñanza del DF, movilizando las Salas de Recursos (donde los niños desarrollan sus áreas de interés) y los profesores de enseñanza regular. En total, fueron inscritos 100 poemas, que fueron analizados por un juris específicos para llegar a los 22 poemas finalistas.

Reunidos en la sala de Antonio Miranda, en la BNB, para coordinar la programación conjunta, los colaboradores de la BIP (foto) pudieron conocer la escenografía que va a dar nueva cara y dinamismo al Complejo Cultural de la República durante el evento.

MUSEO - Por su parte, el Museo va a acoger la Expo OBRANOME 2 – que envuelve cinco eventos de poesía visual incorporados a la Bienal de Poesía –, también guiará al público que circulará en el Complejo. Wagner Barja, director del Museo, y Guilherme Reis, director de la Escena Contemporánea, son los responsables por la concepción y ejecución del proyecto de ocupación de la Plaza.

Según Barja, el día 7 de septiembre habrá un operativo especial de seguridad, por cuenta de las obras que estarán expuestas en la Plaza, en función del movimiento del público visitante del Museo, sumado al de la Escena y al de la BIP.

BIBLIOTECA - En medio a los pilotes de la Biblioteca Nacional de Brasilia (BNB) será montada una mini-feria de libros de poesía, abierta a todos los poetas interesados en participar. Un lanzamiento colectivo de los títulos expuestos se anticipará a la inauguración oficial de la I BIP, estando prevista, para las 17 horas del 3 de septiembre – día también marcado para la inauguración de los fondos de la BNB, según anunció Antonio Miranda.

En la reunión, Miranda mostró a los colaboradores el primer producto editado especialmente para lanzamiento en la Bienal – Dawson, libro de poemas del chileno Aristóteles España, publicado por la Thesaurus Editora, con prólogo del poeta Gonçalo Rojas y traducción de Antonio Miranda.

SIMPOSIO DE CRÍTICA DE POESÍA - Sylvia Cyntrão, poeta, profesora del Departamento de Literaturas de la UnB y coordinadora del Simposio de Crítica de Poesía, llamó la atención para las inscripciones que están abiertas hace algunas semanas, vía www.bienaldepoesia.unb.br, para interesados en esta actividad de la I BIP, teniendo un precio menor para los profesores de enseñanza media. “La intención es incentivar el estudio de la poesía a partir del contacto con los nuevos lenguajes, que serán debatidos por los invitados especialistas en las diversas áreas, por eso el descuento para los profesores de la educación media”, Sylvia explicó.

LA FERIA DEL LIBRO DE BRASÍLIA – otra colaboradora de la BIP que se instala en el Patio Brasil Shopping, en la W3 Sul – marcará presencia en la Plaza de la Cultura con un Café Literario, que será montado próximo a la Biblioteca. El objetivo es tener más un espacio de encuentro, con poetas, editores, libreros, académicos, periodistas, según anunció el director de la Cámara del Libro, Valter da Silva.

SESC-BIP – Los coordinadores de Cultura del SESC, Juliana Valadares y Rogero Torquato, reafirmaron el empeño de la programación con énfasis en llevar la poesía para las ciudades satélites de Taguatinga, Guará y Ceilândia. Según Juliana, el mapa del SESC en la BIP está preparándose para ser distribuido a finales de julio.

Participaron también de la reunión de los colaboradores: Fernando Adolfo (Cine Brasilia); Alaor Rosa (Escena); Márcia Oliveira (Cultura); Melissa Viana y Simone Oliveira (Oito); y Sandra Furlan, Liliane Bernardes, Graça Pimentel y Angélica Torres (BNB).

The contest objective is to encourage and disseminate the literary talent of gifted students served in Naah/Superdotados implanted throughout the country. The 27 finalists will have their poems in a bilingual anthology assembled (spanish and portuguese) sponsored by the Embassy of Spain, to be launched during the 27^th Book Fair Brasilia and distributed in Spanish and Brazilian schools.

The Literary Award Talent reached all Regional Directories of Teaching of the Federal District, mobilizing rooms of resources (where the kids develop their areas of interest) and teachers of regular teaching. In total, 100 were enrolled poems, which went through specific jurors to reach the 22 finalists poems.

The Square of Culture, which connects the National Library of Brasilia to the Museum of the Republic, will become a great stage for shared activities of the I BIP and the Contemporary Scene from August 23th to September 7th. In the broad area of the latest work of Oscar Niemeyer built in Brasilia, the assembly of the Punto de Encuentro of the Contemporary Scene, next to the Museum, will involve installing a restaurant with bar and the frame of Scenario Petrobras, which concentrate supply workshops, lectures, debates and book launches connected to the theatre as well as poetry recitals and musical shows in the scheduling of the Biennale Poetry.

Gathered in Antonio Miranda’s office in the National Library, for the successes of joint programming, the companions of the I BIP (photo) knew the scenario that is going to give new dynamism to the Cultural Complex of the Republic during the period.

MUSEUM – For its part, the Museum will host the Expo OBRANOME 2, which involves five events added to the visual poetry of the Biennial, as well monitoring the public and the movement in the Complex. Barja Wagner, director of the museum, and Guillermo Reis, director of the Contemporary Scene, are responsible for the design and implementation of the proposed occupation of the Plaza. According Barja, on September 7th there will be a special security team, on behalf of the works that will be exposed in the square, according to the great movement of the public visiting the museum, added to the Contemporary Scene and that of the BIP.

LIBRARY – Amid the columns of the National Library of Brasilia will be mounted a mini-exhibition of poetry books, open to all poets interested in participating. A group of launch titles will be exposed in advance of the formal opening of the I BIP, being planned, hence, for 5pm of September 3th, the day that will also mark the inauguration of the databank of the BNB, as announced by Antonio Miranda. At the meeting, Miranda showed colleagues the first edited product specifically for launch in the Biennial, Dawson, book of poems of Chilean Aristóteles España, published by Editora Thesaurus, with foreword by the poet Gonçalo Rojas and translations of Antonio Miranda.

SYMPOSIUM POETRY CRITIC – Sylvia Cyntrão, poet, professor of the Department of Literature of the UnB (University of Brasilia) and coordinator of the Symposium of Criticism of Poetry, drew attention to the inscriptions that were open a few weeks ago (see www.bienaldepoesia.unb.br), for those interested in this activity of I BIP, bringing a lower price for high school teachers. “The intention is to base the study of poetry from contact with new languages, which will be discussed by invited specialists in various areas, hence why the benefit to professor of secondary education,” Sylvia explained.

THE BOOK FAIR OF BRASILIA – Another member of the BIP to be installed on the Mall Patio Brazil in the South W3, marked presence in the Square of Culture with a Literary Cafe, to be mounted next to the area of the Library. The aim is to foster a more local meeting, in the case, poets, publishers, writers, academics, journalists, as announced by the director of the Book Chamber, Valter da Silva.

SESC-BIP – The coordinators of Culture of the SESC, Juliana Valadares and Rogero Torquato, reaffirmed the commitment of the whole programme back to poetry in the satellite cities of Taguatinga, Ceilandia and Guará. According to Juliana, the map of the SESC in the BIP is being prepared for distribution at the end of July.

With this generous partnership, the Biennial will be present at Guará, Gama, Ceilândia and North and South Taguatinga, as well as in Sector of Food Industries in the South 913, in the 504 South and in the Commercial Sector South, and within the Pilot Plan.

The programme of the I BIP of SESC is being planned next to all the other units and will be available immediately confirmed, so that the public can go choosing what they want to attend. The offer is not small; however Juliana Valadares reveals only some of the activities that go to the cartel.

The show ‘As Mil Folhas Peladas do Poema’ (photo), led by Gê Martu and Luciana Martuchelli will be presented at the Paulo Autran Theatre, in Taguatinga North. Manuela Castello Branco, in the skin of the clown Matusquella, will make a poetic intervention in the SESC Gama. The exhibition of visual poetry of Mario Rosa, from Minas Gerais, will be in Ceilandia. And the project ‘Playing with stories’ will include the reading of poems in the satellite cities where the SESC maintains its schools.

Both films tell the passionate path of Castro Alves (Spoken Portrait of the Poet), under the masterful direction of Silvio Tendler and Cruz e Sousa (The Poet’s Exile), the first brazilian symbolist, biography by Sylvio Back. Among the short films is one of Back, The Babel of Light, where the controversial filmmaker and poet of Santa Catarina reveals the poet Helena Kolody, then aged 80.

Another poet protagonist of the sample is the goiana Cora Coralina, with tributes in two beautiful shorts by Brazilian filmmakers Waldir Pina (Cora Coralina: The Call of the Stones) and Armando Lacerda / Vincent Fonseca (Cora Dulce Coralina). The production Viva Cassiano! is from Brasilia, where Bernardo Bernardes celebrates the poet Cassiano Nunes, who died last year, and is heritage of the Brazilian literature.

Grammar got assaulted, of Ana Maria Magalhães, who introduced in video clip language the poets of the generation called marginal, Paulo Leminsky, Chico Alvim, Waly Salomão and Chacal in a dramatised fiction. Rarity, the documentary pays tribute to Ana C. Cesar and has Lulu Santos, the Paralamas and Scarlet Moon in the theme-song. The sample of the I BIP brings the cartoon The Poet, by Paulo Munhoz, film that won many awards and has again Leminsky in the plot, as well as Fernando Pessoa.
