The Square of Culture, which connects the National Library of Brasilia to the Museum of the Republic, will become a great stage for shared activities of the I BIP and the Contemporary Scene from August 23th to September 7th. In the broad area of the latest work of Oscar Niemeyer built in Brasilia, the assembly of the Punto de Encuentro of the Contemporary Scene, next to the Museum, will involve installing a restaurant with bar and the frame of Scenario Petrobras, which concentrate supply workshops, lectures, debates and book launches connected to the theatre as well as poetry recitals and musical shows in the scheduling of the Biennale Poetry.
Gathered in Antonio Miranda’s office in the National Library, for the successes of joint programming, the companions of the I BIP (photo) knew the scenario that is going to give new dynamism to the Cultural Complex of the Republic during the period.
MUSEUM – For its part, the Museum will host the Expo OBRANOME 2, which involves five events added to the visual poetry of the Biennial, as well monitoring the public and the movement in the Complex. Barja Wagner, director of the museum, and Guillermo Reis, director of the Contemporary Scene, are responsible for the design and implementation of the proposed occupation of the Plaza. According Barja, on September 7th there will be a special security team, on behalf of the works that will be exposed in the square, according to the great movement of the public visiting the museum, added to the Contemporary Scene and that of the BIP.
LIBRARY – Amid the columns of the National Library of Brasilia will be mounted a mini-exhibition of poetry books, open to all poets interested in participating. A group of launch titles will be exposed in advance of the formal opening of the I BIP, being planned, hence, for 5pm of September 3th, the day that will also mark the inauguration of the databank of the BNB, as announced by Antonio Miranda. At the meeting, Miranda showed colleagues the first edited product specifically for launch in the Biennial, Dawson, book of poems of Chilean Aristóteles España, published by Editora Thesaurus, with foreword by the poet Gonçalo Rojas and translations of Antonio Miranda.
SYMPOSIUM POETRY CRITIC – Sylvia Cyntrão, poet, professor of the Department of Literature of the UnB (University of Brasilia) and coordinator of the Symposium of Criticism of Poetry, drew attention to the inscriptions that were open a few weeks ago (see www.bienaldepoesia.unb.br), for those interested in this activity of I BIP, bringing a lower price for high school teachers. “The intention is to base the study of poetry from contact with new languages, which will be discussed by invited specialists in various areas, hence why the benefit to professor of secondary education,” Sylvia explained.
THE BOOK FAIR OF BRASILIA – Another member of the BIP to be installed on the Mall Patio Brazil in the South W3, marked presence in the Square of Culture with a Literary Cafe, to be mounted next to the area of the Library. The aim is to foster a more local meeting, in the case, poets, publishers, writers, academics, journalists, as announced by the director of the Book Chamber, Valter da Silva.
SESC-BIP – The coordinators of Culture of the SESC, Juliana Valadares and Rogero Torquato, reaffirmed the commitment of the whole programme back to poetry in the satellite cities of Taguatinga, Ceilandia and Guará. According to Juliana, the map of the SESC in the BIP is being prepared for distribution at the end of July.
