Poemação is a project of the I IBP that will slide show poetic texts on the walls of buildings in Brasilia. One of the DVDs that are arriving to the organizers of the event is Nos Rodean (They Surround Us), based on three poems written by the Chilean poet Aristóteles España, when he was 17years-old, became the youngest prisoner of the military coup that stroke the government of Salvador Allende, in September 11, 1973.
The short film documents the poems Chegada/ Apuntes/ Partida, where Aristóteles sees himself submitted to his executers, in the concentration camp of the Dawson Island, accused of being a “dangerous person to the State”.
Directed, produced and with cenography by José Antonio Goicuria, Nos Rodean is poetry in the shape of claim against the violation of human rights. It presents the Erico Monge, a teenager that plays the roll of the tortured poet, narrating the poems, and with subtitles in Portuguese, translated by Antonio Miranda.
ABOUT POEAMAÇÃO – The Poemação Project was conceived to take place at different spaces of Brasilia. The formula was: a proposal to alternate the reading of poems, a music recital and the visual projection of a poetic video clip, each taking place on a stage for 5 minutes, maximum, within a program that can last hours, depending on the interest and feedbacks of the poets, musicians and video-makers, in particular.
At first, sessions will happen in the literary cafés of the Brasilia Book Fair and at the Conjunto Cultural da República, as well as in the entrance hall of Cine Brasilia, sharing place and programs with the Cena Contemporânea, a new project that has enrolled the I IBP cultural program. We hope that Poemação will also cover bars, bookstores, and other cafés.
POEMAÇÃO – Stay tuned and join us! If you are a poet, musician and videomaker, write to bip.brasilia@gmail.com and propose a show.
